Meteor craters on Earth

Craters on Earth are formed when a meteorite or asteroid crashed to the surface. Generally, these are internal bodies in our solar system that are hitting each other. Such craters are easily visible planets and satellites like the moon, Mercury and Mars. In contrast, craters on Earth are always effaced both erosion and by tectonic movement of earth plates. Still a young craters hitting the ground remained to this day.

They are about 170 in number and are scattered across the planet. The diameter of the craters on the Earth varies from 100 meters to 300 kilometers. He is even said that the disappearance of the dinosaurs happened because of a meteorite hit the Earth (the oldest and largest crater Chicxulub) 65 million years ago.

Kaali crater - formed between the 4th and the 8th century BC. and is located in Estonia. Is 110 meters wide and 22 meters deep. Around it are scattered 8 more smaller crater since entering the earth's atmosphere meteorite was ripped. Tenoumer crater  - almost perfect circle with a diameter of about 2 km, which is located in the Sahara Desert in Mauritania. Scientists was formed in the fall of a meteorite before 10,000 to 30,000 years, since the surface has dried iron rock. Bookmark and Share

Amazing craters on Earth

Lonar crater in India - was formed 50,000 years ago when a meteorite hit the Earth's surface. Subsequently formed in Salt Lake is 1.2 km in diameter and 137 m deep rim of the crater. Being located in India, around many temples that were sadly demolished except Daityasudan temple in the city of Lonar.

Tswaing Crater  - created by a meteorite measuring 30 to 50 meters in diameter that hit Earth about 220,000 years. In the center of the crater is very shallow lake, which filled with water from the spring rains.
Pingualuit Crater - before about 1.4 million years large meteorite falls, which has the power of 8,500 Hiroshima atomic bombs. Do crater 3.44 km and 400 m depth. At the bottom of the crater is a lake with a depth of about 270 meters with one of the purest water on earth.
Amguid Crater - relatively young crater of 100,000 years and is located in Algeria. Its dimensions are 450 m diameter and 30 m depth only. Is almost perfectly round, and in the middle (bottom) it is sand, which when viewed on high would seem that muddy water.
Wolf Creek Crater - the location is Phenomena of Australia and had been formed by a meteorite that crashed on the planet 300,000 years ago. Its diameter is about 875 meters, and its depth is about 120 m. In recent millennia wind and sand were deformed edges of the crater Wolf Creek and its depth is now only 25 meters.

Barringer Crater is the best preserved and known by all of craters on Earth now. Named after Daniel Barringer, who first discovered and bought. The time now is privately owned by his family and located in Arizona, USA. Barringer Crater was formed 40,000 years 1,200 m in diameter and depth 170 m.
